Recent photo taken on a hunt with my son.
His: AR 15 in 300 Whisper.
Mine: Marlin 375 sporting skinner sights. (Brass rear and sourdough front)
We both harvested Whitetails on this hunt. And a good time was had by all!
Browning Model 53 in 32-20Skinner Barrel Mount Aperture Sight
Its hard to see the Skinner Aperture sight mounted in the barrel
dovetail but this photo and rifle were so beautiful we needed to
share it. The owner reported amazing accuracy and ease of
sighting in with this set up. (This is what the sight would look
like on a Winchester 92 or copy)
Marlin 1894 in 44 Magnum
Skinner Model 94 rear sight
Customer mounted sights and sighted in at 50 yards. These four shots were taken offhand with four diff. factory loads in preparation for deer season. Considering the four different factory loadings this is an amazing group. Note the folded down factory rear sight.
Dick S. Buck
The photos of this years hunting season are starting to come in!
This buck was taken during a herd reduction hunt with a Model 94 in .44 Magnum using 270 Gr. Speer Gold Dots.
See Target above!
Dan L. Buck
This seems to be the year of the "meat" buck for a lot of folks. Remember everyones trophy is as individual as those who hunt them!
Dan only had one more day to get out for the Montana deer season. He had taken a doe earlier with his 300 Whisper on a AR 15 Platform. Sunday after church he said, "Dad, lets make a Skinner Sight for my 25-06 Highwall...
So we took the rifle to the shop and custom fit a front and rear sight.
This sight is mounted in the scope mounting holes on the barrel.
We used a 1/2" base, .650" tall, .040" front sight mounted in the factory dovetail.
The load printed 2 1/5" high at 100 using this sight combination and was 1" to the right with the sights centered. (30" octagon barrel)
I think he was just as happy as when he shot this buck last year, also with a Browning Highwall. (chambered in 7mm STW)
Each "Trophy" has its own unique appeal. This one also generated a big smile!
Andy L. Buck
Taken right at "last light" this buck traveled about 20 yards after the shot.
A nice 5 x 4 with a compact rack. He was trailing about 20 min behind a couple does which were skirting the edge of deep timber along a mountain meadow.
Last years buck was taken with a Browning Highwall.
WE LOVE LEVERS AND SINGLE SHOTS !!!
Hunting together as a "Father and Son team" is among lifes greatest rewards!
Marlin 39 in Brass
There is something special about deep blue steel, dark walnut and brass sight to compliment the Marlin Gold Trigger.
Joseph L. sent this photo of his BEAUTIFUL Marlin Model 39 with a Brass Skinner sight mounted on top! Thank you Joseph for sharing this beautiful photo and documenting just how pretty those brass sights look on the 39.
Notice the folded down barrel mounted rear sight.
Some of the posts online have referred to the brass Skinner Sights as
and we know why!
SPECIAL SPORTING SHORT RIFLE
Uberti makes some very classy reproductions of the early Winchesters.
They are authentic down to the sights and screws.
However, the addition
of a SKINNER
looks classy while
affording a quick and
accurate sight picture.
Thanks Frank for sharing such a beautiful photo.
MARLIN SPORT CARBINE
Boykin calls his customized 336 Sport Carbine the
In his own words,
"Features a brass Skinner Barrel Mount
Peep Sight. Using
125 gr. Federal, hits a beer at 50 - 75 yards everytime!
Wonderful set up,
looks just right!"
THANKS BOYKIN FOR THE PHOTO!

The 25-06 afforded
us flat enough trajectory
for a dead on hold.
The aperture sight presented a precision sight picture under field conditions.
